Ο εκθεσιακός χώρος Δια Χρόνος, παρουσιάζει την πρώτη έκθεση φωτογραφίας της Μαρίας Νιώρα, με τίτλο Direct//

H έκθεση είναι μια ολοκληρωμένη εργασία, σε τέσσερις ενότητες που συνδέονται μεταξύ τους χρονικά και αισθητικά.

Ο τίτλος της έκθεσης δεν είναι τυχαίος. Η λέξη direct έχει δύο βασικές εννοιολογικές σημασίες, μία γραμμική (κινούμαι ευθεία, χωρίς να αλλάζω πορεία), η δεύτερη αναφερέται στον άνθρωπο (αυτός που είναι ευθύς, άμεσος, χωρίς να σκέφτεται τη γνώμη των αλλων).

Η Μαρία Νιώρα στο έργο της αυτό διαγράφει ένα ταξίδι με προορισμό τον τόπο καταγωγής της μητέρας της (Κύθνος, Κυκλάδες) με τέσσερις νοητικούς σταθμούς. Τα τέσσερα στοιχεία της φύσης. Η απλότητα των γεγονότων. Οι γραμμές της ζωής. Όπως είναι. Για αυτό το λόγο και οι φωτογραφίες δε δεχθηκαν κάποια ιδιαίτερη «επέμβαση».

Η καλλιτέχνης με την παρουσία του έργου κλείνει μια προσωπική αναζήτηση δύο ετών, μπαίνοντας σε μια νέα φάση «ηρεμίας». Ο τίτλος προσδίδει αυτό ακριβώς, την πορεία και την αμεσότητα που και η ίδια έχει έμφυτη, θέλοντας έτσι να ξεκινήσει τώρα σε νέα μονοπάτια, με νοητική αφετηρία τον τόπο καταγωγής της, αλλά και τον τόπο καταγωγής του «πνευματικού» της πατέρα (Τήνος- Κυκλάδες), όπου και θα παρουσιαστεί και για πρώτη φορά η έκθεση.

Dia Xronos Art Exhibition Space, presents Direct//, Maria Niora’s first theme photography project.

The exhibition is divided into four sections, which collaborate together into a certain direction, chronologically and aesthetically.

Direct wasn’t a random title. The word direct has two basic meanings, among others. One referring to the direction one follows literally, moving into a straight line without changing course. The other one is used as an adjective for a person who is free in expressing one’s feelings and emotions. Maria draws here a line of course with a mental destination to her mother’s birthplace-Kythnos Island, Cyclades- depicting the four elements of life, the simplicity of events, the lines of life. As Is.

She now closes a personal chapter in her life, towards a new phase of “serenity”, a course of direction with a certain personal directness, moving into new paths, using her origins as a mental and literal image, as well as her godfather’s birthplace, where the exhibition will take place for the first time.

Maria Niora (1982) was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She started working in her late teens, as an actress.
Upon finishing her bachelor’s degree (in Sociology) she was accepted at the American Academy of Dramatic to study acting, where she also worked there at their production team for two years (2008-2009) She has worked in various theatre companies as an actress ( Looking Glass Theatre, Drilling CompaNY, The Riant Theatre, The Wild Project), as an associate theatre producer (American Thymele Theatre), as well as a stylist and a costumer assistant in music videos (The Choke and Zambri alternative rock bands).
Her love for photography came together with her love for acting, at an early age. She bought her first film camera, using the money she got from her first acting gig. In 2012, she permanently returned to Greece. She started then slowly, mostly unintentionally, taking photographs again, using her analogue camera and then she headed towards the digital world.
Photography is now a permanent way to interact with the environment she lives in . The non verbal, the natural and the artificial, the shapes and color frequencies we all experience but hardly ever take the time to study.
Observation was and still is her “key tool”, both in the performing field (live human behaviour) but now is defined, shaped and permanently captured with the help of technology.
